HOME LEARNING After today's lesson you should have quotations from your peers that you can use as evidence of a focus group approach to gathering audience responses to your products. It is important that you show that you can seek the opinion of an audience in a variety of ways. The focus group provides qualitative information as it explores what people think and feel. For home learning you need to use a quantitative method of audience research by conducting an audience survey. The details are set out below and it is very important that you come to the lesson on wednesday with this information. HOME LEARNING Another controlled assessment done and another step closer to completing the research and planning section of this piece of coursework. This aspect is vital as it is worth 25% of the marks for the overall unit. You are all making a really good impression and are creating some very high quality pieces of work so keep it up. Get your questionnaires filled in before Monday's lesson as this will be the first of the controlled assessment lessons to analyse this data and without it you will find very little to do in that hour. Remember your data for Monday 22nd April!
Graphs, graphs and more graphs! You all did a great job today getting to grips with some very difficult data analysis and management. Your questionnaires should be with us by the end of this week, or early next week if not. In the meantime make sure that you gather the information from your focus groups effectively. You should have this data, recorded however you like, ready for next week when we can sit down and do the controlled assessment time for the analysis of your market research. Today we looked at what a focus group was and how we can use it to gather qualitative data and use it to support the data gained from our questionnaire work. The questionnaires will be printed and with you before the end of the week and you need to work hard to get all 20 filled in ready for your controlled assessment lesson where you will analyse your findings and present the information - do not worry too much there will be a lesson preparing you for this part of the assessment.
Home Learning - To conduct your focus group based on magazines and to bring evidence of the discussion, in note form or a recording - video or audio - to the lesson when required next week. It was suggested that your tutor group would be an ideal focus group and that Friday tutor period could be used for this if it is agreed with your tutor. The first of your controlled assessment sessions went well. You all seemed to use the material that we covered in class to produce some very effective questionnaires. I would like you to leave some comments here with how you felt it went. How well prepared did you feel? Do you think you we're able to do everything that you wanted to in the time allowed? What can we do next time that would make things better in your future controlled assessments?
I hope that everyone had a relaxing half term break and that you feel recharged and energised for the project ahead. We have moved onto the planning stages of creating our CD covers and the ideas are flowing. Some very creative work on fonts and cover designs will stand the group in very good stead when we move on to actually producing the CD covers over the next few weeks. Remember that you will be issued with your time slot to take your photograph very soon and you need to make sure that you have all costumes and props that you need ready for that time.
